About Excellence in Advertising Awards Committee (EAA)
Historical Background

The Excellence in Advertising Awards was inaugurated by the Father's Day/Mother's Day Council in 1973. The Award was conceived to recognize the vital role of retailers and the media in developing an awareness program that preserves the values inherent in Mother's Day and Father's Day. The presentation of these awards is the Council's way of rewarding those advertisements that best represent the spirit of Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Founded in 1978, the National Mother's Day Committee has dedicated its efforts to reaching the national psyche with a message of traditional values and sound family relationships. In the last few years, we have focused our efforts on promoting responsibility and caring relationships among families.

Mother's Day was founded in 1908, when less than 3% of our Mothers were employed outside the home. Today, 80% of women are faced with the challenges of raising school-age children, managing family activities, and juggling a full time job, true multi taskers. By designating one Outstanding Mother for her success in these endeavors, we hope to honor all Mothers and all families here in the United States and in more than one hundred nations around the world.
